Job Description:

• Manage the care of patients with GI cancers, including diagnosis, treatment planning (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies), and monitoring. This includes providing consultations, performing physical examinations, and interpreting diagnostic tests.
• Design, lead, and participate in clinical trials (phases I-IV) to test new drugs, therapeutic approaches, and medical devices. This involves developing study protocols, recruiting and consenting patients, overseeing trial execution, and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and ethical standards.
• Bridge the gap between basic scientific discoveries and clinical application. A clinical investigator often works with laboratory scientists to translate research findings into new treatment strategies and to identify biomarkers that can predict a patient's response to a specific therapy.
• Analyze clinical trial data to assess the safety and efficacy of new treatments. The investigator is also responsible for summarizing these findings and publishing them in peer-reviewed medical journals and presenting them at scientific conferences.
• Educate and train medical students, residents, and fellows in the principles of GI oncology and clinical research.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including other oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and research staff (e.g., clinical research coordinators, data managers). This ensures comprehensive patient care and the smooth operation of research projects.
