Gaming Special Agent

Essential Functions

• As a sworn armed peace officer, serves as a Gaming Special Agent ensuring the integrity of gaming in the State
  of Illinois by enforcing the Illinois Gambling Act, Video Gaming Act, Sports Wagering Act, State Fair Gaming Act, and
  any other statues for which the Gaming Board has jurisdiction.
• Conducts interviews and investigates complaints.
• Processes casino and video gaming applications for licenses.
• Assists the Attorney General, State’s Attorney and the U.S. Attorney’s Offices in preparation of cases for civil or
  criminal prosecution.
• Coordinates with other law enforcement agencies and gaming jurisdictions in conducting joint investigations or in
  exchanging information on persons, associated with the gaming industry.
• Participates in various trainings, including but not limited to: Firearms, Professional and Fitness.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires two years of college with coursework in criminal justice, law enforcement, pre-law business administration or a related field, plus five consecutive years of full-time service as a police officer with the same law enforcement agency; OR
  Requires a minimum of twenty years of sworn law enforcement experience in good standing with the same law enforcement agency; OR Requires successful completion of the Gaming Special Agent Trainee program.

Conditions of Employment

1. Graduated from an approved State Police Academy program and are currently certified as a sworn peace officer.
2. Possess sufficient physical fitness to have passed the Peace Office Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) test.
3. Pass an approved firearms qualification course and have a valid Firearm owners Identification card (FOID).
4. Requires ability to perform shift work including weekends and holidays.
5. Requires possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
6. Pass Illinois Gaming Board’s background investigation (background check).
7. Must comply with the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act: No State employee who works for the Illinois Gaming Board, or spouse or immediate family member living with such person shall, during State employment, hold an ownership interest, other than a passive interest in a publicly traded company, in any gaming license under the Illinois Gambling Act, the Video Gaming Act, the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975, or the Sports Wagering Act.
8. Must comply with the Illinois Gambling Act: No person shall be employed to serve the Board who is, or whose spouse, parent or child is, an official of, or has a financial interest in or financial relation with, any operator engaged in gambling operations within this State, or any organization engaged in conducting horse racing within this State.
9. Must comply with the Illinois Gambling Act: For the one year immediately preceding employment, an employee shall not have been employed or received compensation or fees for services from a person or entity, or its parent or affiliate, that has engaged in business with the Board, a licensee, or a licensee under the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975.
10. Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefers one (1) year experience in conducting investigations.
• Prefers one (1) year experience writing thoroughly documented investigative reports.
• Prefers one (1) year experience reviewing or analyzing records to ensure compliance with regulations, statutes, and laws.
